Public Input Meeting for Grants

IDEA, Part B – Entitlement – These funds are allocated for the support of special projects which will contribute to the solution of persisting state-wide needs in the education of exceptional students.

IDEA, Part B – Preschool Entitlement - These funds are allocated to provide special education and related services to students with disabilities aged three through five.

Title I – Part A (Title I Basic) program provides services to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families be able to offer high-quality education that will enable all children to meet, at a minimum, proficiency levels on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

Title I – Part C - These funds are allocated to provide services to migratory students who are failing or at risk of failing to meet the State’s challenging content and academic achievement standards and whose education has been interrupted during the regular school year.

Title II, Part A – Teacher and Principal Training/Recruiting –This program’s purpose is to improve teacher and principal quality and increase the number of highly qualified teachers and principals.

Title III Part A – This program is for limited English proficient students and is tailored to individual student needs. The program uses either English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) or home language instructional strategies.

Title IV, Part A- Student Support and Academic Enrichment- This program will support district developed services and activities geared toward providing all students an enriched educational experience.

Title IV, Part B- 21st Century Community Learning Centers-This program provides after-school and summer enrichment programs for students.

Title V, Part B, Subpart 2 – Rural Education Achievement Program – These funds are allocated to provide additional support to rural or low income districts.

Parent Survey

We have posted our school climate survey link on our district website, mobile app and Facebook.  This is your opportunity to contribute to your child’s education by giving us your opinion.  The results from the surveys will help us in planning for the 2018-2019 school year.   It should take less than 10 minutes to complete the survey.  Parent surveys need to be completed by May 11, 2018.   We appreciate your time in helping improve the educational experience of your student in Holmes District Schools.

The W.I.N.G.S. Summer Program registration will begin April 12th and end on April 25th at the following school sites: Bethlehem, BK8, Ponce de Leon Elementary and Poplar Springs.

The summer program will begin June 11th and end on July 19th.  The program will operate Monday-Thursday from 8:30am – 2:30pm. The week of July 4th, we will operate Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday due to the holiday on Wednesday. Each site will offer a nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack daily in the school cafeteria. 

The curriculum includes science, math, reading, physical education and enrichment activities.  Students currently in the WINGS program will be enrolled first and then enrollment will be open to any student. PSHS, PDLE and BHS will have 40 slots and BK8 will have 80. Attendance is very important during the summer program. Students will only be allowed to miss 4 days before they are dismissed and then a student from the waiting list will be enrolled. 

Bus transportation will be available daily. Bus routes will be completed after all applicants have turned in their forms.

W.I.N.G.S. is a Florida Department of Education 21st CCLC after-school grant that is administered through the Holmes County School Board.

NOTICE


The Holmes County School Board will be discussing plans for the following district-owned facilities which currently receive minimal use:

 

  • FORMER BONIFAY MIDDLE SCHOOL BALLFIELD (BEHIND PUBLIC LIBRARY)
  • FORMER HCHS/BMS AG BUILDING (BEHIND PUBLIC LIBRARY)
  • FORMER DISTRICT OFFICE (IOWA AVE.)

 
This discussion will take place during a Workshop on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 beginning at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Board Room at the Holmes District School Board Office, located at 701 East Pennsylvania Avenue, Bonifay FL. 

 

Report Cards/Spring Break

March 21, 2018

Report cards will be issued on Friday, March 23.

Spring Break will be the week of March 26-30.  Classes will resume on Monday, April 2.

2018 SUMMER VPK Registration Information

        

Parents will log in to https://familyservices.floridaearlylearning.com/

 

Parents must have a valid e-mail address to complete this procedure.

Families must upload (scan & send) the child’s birth certificate and proof of Florida residency as prompted during process.  Everything has to be completed on-line.  The Early Learning Coalition will email the Certificate to you, then you print it and take to the school as explained below:

Certificates of Eligibility will be accepted at BK8 beginning Wednesday April 4,  8:30-1:30.  Parents will need to furnish a copy of child’s birth certificate, current shot & physical record at this time. Parents will be asked to fill out registration forms at this time.

SUMMER VPK is June 7-July 31 M-F July 4 closed 7:30-4:00
