2021 Summer Voluntary Pre-K Registration Information

Parents will log in to  https://familyservices.floridaearlylearning.com/Account/LogOn

Parents must have a valid e-mail address to complete this procedure.

Families must upload (scan & send) the child’s birth certificate and proof of Florida residency as prompted during process.  Everything has to be completed on-line.  The Early Learning Coalition will email the Certificate to the parents, then families print it and take to the school as explained below:

Certificates of Eligibility for Summer VPK will be accepted at Holmes District School Board in Office 10 beginning Monday, April 19th.  Parents will need to furnish a copy of child’s birth certificate, current shot & physical record at this time. Parents will be asked to fill out registration forms at this time.

Summer VPK is for students that were eligible for VPK during the 20-21 school year but did not attend a VPK program.

2021-22 School Year Voluntary Pre-K Registration Information

Step 1:  (Must complete before April 26th)

Parents will log in to  https://familyservices.floridaearlylearning.com/Account/LogOn

Parents must have a valid e-mail address to complete this procedure.

Families must upload (scan & send) the child’s birth certificate and proof of Florida residency as prompted during process.  Everything has to be completed on-line.  The Early Learning Coalition will email the Certificate to the parents, then it will need to be uploaded in the HDSB registration portal.

Step 2:  Online VPK school registration will begin April 26th at 9:00 a.m.  Parents will go to www.hdsb.org and click on the VPK registration link.  There are sections of the registration that require uploading documents for registration:  birth certificate, shot records, and certificate of eligibility from the Early Learning Coalition of Northwest Florida.

All VPK registrations will be completed online. There are limited VPK slots at each school site.  Registrations will be accepted in the order they are received.  You will be contacted by the VPK teacher to confirm registration in the program.

Controlled Open Enrollment Window Open

The 2021-22 controlled open enrollment reassignment application is now available on the Controlled Open Enrollment page of our site.  

Please read the Frequently Asked Questions document and and look at the school zone map to determine if you need to submit a reassignment application for your child.  If you reside outside of Holmes County, you do not have to obtain a waiver from your home school district.  Out-of-state students will still need a waiver.  Any student wishing to attend a school that is not in their assigned zone must submit a reassignment application to Holmes County each year.  Applications must be submitted by Friday, May 14.

Time Change--February 23 School Board Meeting

February 19, 2021

Due to the boys regional final basketball game at Poplar Springs, the time for the February 23 school board meeting has been changed.  There will be a workshop at 1:00 p.m. immediately followed by the regular session.

Work From Home Day--January 15

January 8, 2021

On Friday, January 15, 2021, Holmes District Schools will be having a “work from home” day for both students and teachers.  The purpose of this day is to give an opportunity to practice navigating our distance learning platforms from home.  Just as we practice fire drills and bus evacuations, we need to practice the transition to remote learning should the need arise.  As part of the guidance for school reopening, the Florida Department of Education strongly suggested that we hold at least one of these practice “work from home” days each year.  We know that there may be some challenges, but we will use those as opportunities to improve!

Classes Resume Monday, January 4

We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to class on Monday, January 4! Please remember to follow CDC guidance, and keep your child at home if he or she isn't feeling well, exhibiting COVID symptoms, running fever, or has been exposed or tested postive and is still within the quarantine timeframe.
